झारखंड में JPSC-JSSC परीक्षाओं में कथित अनियमितताओं के खिलाफ छात्र आंदोलन कर रहे देवेंद्र नाथ महतो ने 15 अगस्त को तिरंगा यात्रा में शामिल होने की इच्छा जताई। सदर अस्पताल में इलाज के बावजूद जब उन्होंने जयपाल सिंह मुंडा स्टेडियम जाने की कोशिश की, तो पुलिस ने उन्हें रोक दिया। करीब एक घंटे तक अस्पताल के एचडीयू के बाहर भारी पुलिस बल तैनात रहा। इस दौरान देवेंद्र महतो के समर्थकों और पुलिस के बीच तीखी नोकझोंक और धक्का-मुक्की भी हुई। महतो ने कहा कि उन्होंने लिखकर दिया है कि उनकी जान जाती है तो इसकी जिम्मेदारी अस्पताल की नहीं होगी, फिर भी उन्हें तिरंगा फहराने से रोका जा रहा है। लगातार 14वें दिन अनशन पर रहने के कारण उनकी तबीयत काफी कमजोर है। इसके बावजूद उन्होंने छात्रों की तिरंगा यात्रा में शामिल होने का फैसला किया। समर्थकों ने पुलिस कार्रवाई पर नाराजगी जताते हुए इसे आंदोलन को दबाने की कोशिश बताया।
In Jharkhand, student leader Devendra Nath Mahto, who has been protesting against alleged irregularities in JPSC-JSSC examinations, expressed his desire to join the Tiranga Yatra on August 15. Despite being admitted to Sadar Hospital for treatment, police stopped him when he tried to leave for the Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium. Heavy police deployment remained outside the hospital’s HDU for nearly an hour. During the incident, a heated argument and scuffle reportedly broke out between Mahto’s supporters and the police. Mahto said he had given a written statement that if his life was lost, the hospital would not be held responsible, yet he was still being prevented from participating in the flag-hoisting ceremony. On the 14th consecutive day of his hunger strike, Mahto’s health has deteriorated significantly.
